Gets the instances associated with an execution request.

When a job is submitted for execution using the ExecuteJob method the ExecutionRequestID value from the JobExecutionOptions object is associated with all job instances that are executed as a result of that request. GetInstancesForRequest gets those instances.
The instances may not be available immediately, as job execution does not begin immediately. If the job is being executed on an Agent, it may take several seconds for the request to be sent to the Agent and history information to be returned from the Agent after execution begins.
